Child & teen portraits mean so much to parents. As Family Photographers and as parents ourselves, we know how wonderful it is having a beautiful portrait of the children hanging proudly in the home. It is also well documented that having a portrait of the children and family in the home increases a feeling of belonging and love.

We have over 15 years of experience working with children & teenagers in all their varied beauty. We are great with kids of all ages. No matter their age, we spend time getting to know them a little and getting them to feel safe and comfortable around us – before we even start. We chat with the older children to get a steer on what they’d like, often something a bit more Instagram, fashion and cool – rather than rolling around on the floor as the young children love. So we adapt for the age and we adapt based on their interests and goals – but one thing is consistent, our aim to create images that you’ll love, images crammed full of personality and expression

Whats involved

1. The discovery

The most important step. This is where we discover all about your children and or teenagers and what these special people mean to you. Along with this we explore what you hold most dear in your life, who you chose to share this amazing photographic experience with and what makes everything so meaningful for you.

It’s a chance for you to pause, to stop and think, to remember who you love, what you love and why.

This simple and yet moving part of our experience allows you to see and reconnect with even the small things in your life, little details, simple gestures that often go unseen, or even merely taken for granted.

Through our discovery calls we learn what is most special and what connects you all.

2. The photographic experience

Your discovery experience is then brought into your photography session. This is where we get to photograph your children, teenagers and your family, capturing all that you love and treasure most in life.

This powerful photography captures all of the details, the touch, the expression and the bond between you and your loved ones.

There’s an energy to our photography sessions, they are enjoyable and fun, natural and easy for all. You interact with your loved ones rather than awkwardly pose for the camera. It’s just you really being yourselves – but together and connected.

3. Cinematic reveal

An incredible cinematic experience. Sit back, relax and be wowed as we reveal your unique, beautiful children and family.

Following on from your reveal is your design consultation, where we will assist you in the selection and customisation of your Artwork that will bring life to your home.

We work together to create incredible, bespoke artwork that really will become heirlooms for current and future generations to enjoy, a legacy to love

4. Your artwork

Once designed, your portraits and artwork will be edited and retouched before being sent in to production in order to come to life.

Our aim is to have your artwork ready for collection within 4-6 weeks of your order. Your finished wall art will be ready to display within your home where it will immediately exude all that love and emotion held within – and yes we would love to see a photo!

Answering your questions

Everyone has a question or two when considering or planning a portrait session with their children or the teenagers they’re dragging along. Here are some of the frequent ones, however, do get in touch if you have different questions of your own.

We will take you through our dressing for success guide which will really help you understand what different types of clothing to wear/bring. During these different parts of your session we will also use different backgrounds and lighting to really create a wonderfully varied set of images for you.

Simply yes. We try to have a fun and creative part of the session where we really like to bring you and your hobbies and interests into some shots. We’ve had everything from full-on baking equipment, scooters, ballet, fairy wings, walking boots, full camping setup, Xboxes, sunglasses, funky fashion – you name it. The more involved and creative you are the more awesome the images end up! For teenagers, it may just be more fashion variations but the more put into this preparation the better & more varied the images will be.

Absolutely, and we encourage this and we have had huge successes over the years with many families who have never managed to get a family portrait taken. We have a lot of experience working with families of children with all manner of needs, challenges, and difficulties. We always discuss this with parents in the planning of the session as then we can learn a little about the child, discuss how to approach the session, and have backup plans agreed as well. It’s amazing how much insight parents can give, little tricks we can use that really help – but if we don’t know before then our chances of success are nowhere near as high.

Haha, yes of course – well we certainly try. Our team has, funnily enough, all got children and teenagers of their own – so we completely understand their challenges. Having a photo taken just isn’t cool, it’s embarrassing and they can’t be bothered – we have seen it all and heard it all. But we do get it, but actually our portraits can be cool and they can be edgy. If we can get an insight into them we will aim at achieving an image that they’ll want as their Instagram profile as they look amazing and we have captured them how they see themselves. As we plan for the session get us up to speed with their character and their interests – we’ll do the rest.
